Mugs

Every now and then I'll embark on a Brush binge. Should the bounty be fruitful, I'll run the new recruits through my comfort zone; mug busts.

Somali Spook

A contribution made to a weekly themed character design group. Like most design groups born of a neat idea on lunch, it gave way to other personal endeavours. Had a good time thinking up this somali pirate ghost.

Tetsuo

Had a great time reading through the 6 volumes of this masterpiece. Felt inspired to distill a pretty epic moment in the series. I'll figure out how to gif properly one day and revisit this piece. Until then, good to see you again.

:First Pass

Some left overs from the cutting room floor. Didn't want them to go to waste.

:Creature Discomforts

Been noodling around with ideas for enemies a good 2 weeks now. Decisions were made to tackle these guys with some Creature Box-esque comic book aesthetic. I'll follow up with some colour once the forms follow all the functions we'll need in-game. Until then; cheerio.

Watersmudge strikes again. Safe to say I'll be exploiting this poor little brush for quite some time. I'll admit, I botched this portrait. Chalk this one up as a learning experience. Watched a cool little video over at ctrlpaint 'bout referring back to old works for a sense of progress. Wise words to those of you formatting your blog to post 'recent' or 'better' work ;)

:Canadian Olympians

Said I'd post this back when I was working on it. Better late than later. Did illutrations for this 1.5 week project at work. Nathan Goddard was our motion artist that put them all together.

:Watered Down

Found a cool watercolour smudge brush. Tried it out on a portrait. Works rather well. Took about 90 minutes.

This'll be the last post on this game, promise. It was pretty fun working on this early in the project. Deadlines have a way of curbing what you want and what you have time to do. Not to say deadlines are bad, quite the contrary; endless iteration can wear you out. All that to say, I enjoyed the little extra time I had with these. Enjoy.

:Speed Stream

I've actually set a timer on this to pace myself accordingly. The experience reminds me of gesture life-drawing in that you leave "mistakes" and find ways to make it work. This'll be an effective thumb-nailing process if I can curb the time down to a comfy 15 minutes (This was an hour). Once more I implore you lovely passer-bys to speak up in the comments section if something sticks out I haven't spotted.
